MEDWeek

MINORITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT WEEK:

MEDWeek is a trademark of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Each year, by presidential proclamation, MEDWeek is launched to celebrate the achievements and contributions that minority businesses make toward their local communities and the country's economic growth. During the year, MBEC staff solicits contributions from the corporate and public sectors to finance a program that is held during the fall of each year. A volunteer Steering Committee consisting of lenders, insurance and bonding companies, government purchasing agencies, economic development agencies and small/minority firms plan each year's events.
MEDWeek offers a tremendous public relations and marketing opportunity for local minority businesses to be nominated for local, regional and national award consideration in various categories, from the MBDA. National awards are presented by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. More than 75 local companies have won statewide, regional and national MEDWeek Awards for outstanding performance in their fields. Corporate and public sector advocates of minority businesses have also received MEDWeek honors.
Marie Gill, MBEC’s Project Director, is the coordinator and publicist for MEDWeek in South Florida.
